Community Closet

Urban Ministries of Durham also operates a food pantry and clothes closet. Formerly known as the United Methodist Mission Society and continuing to be primarily staffed and supported by United Methodist volunteers, this program addresses basic emergency needs for food, clothing and hygeine supplies. When donated funds are available, limited financial assistance may be arranged. Typically on a monthly basis, we assist 350-400 persons with in- home food preparation; 180-220 persons with clothing; and 2-3 households with emergency financial assistance.
