For the 12th straight year, the Feinstein Foundation has made $1 million available to hunger fighting agencies nationwide. Any gift made to Urban Ministries of Durham by April 30th, 2009, has the potential to be matched by the Feinstein Foundation.
We’ve all seen and heard day after day, the news of more job losses, record unemployment, business closings, home foreclosures, and the list goes on. Quite simply, hunger and homelessness are on the rise. At Urban Ministries of Durham, Inc., the numbers really do tell the story. For the month of February:
15,500 Meals served in the Community Café (up 33%)
128 Guests sheltered each night on average (up 9%)
3,844 lbs. of food distributed by the Food Pantry (up 43%)
2,775 Clothing items distributed by the Clothing Closet (up 51%)
To continue the good work that we do, we need your help, especially now with the costs of providing these services are on the rise as well. Please consider helping us during the month of April while we have this special opportunity to make your gift even more powerful.
