May 19 - Fourth Annual Beloved Community

Events

On Saturday, May 19, we will celebrate our connectedness as part of Durham’s Beloved Community with a resource fair and picnic.  The celebration runs from 11am-2pm on Queen St. by St. Philip's Episcopal Church and Urban Ministries of Durham.

It will be fun day of fellowship and entertainment with a free picnic lunch, a kids’ arts and crafts area and book giveaway, live music, and a resource area in which numerous Durham aid agencies will be available to provide opportunities to get help with a variety of services – health, financial and other community resources.

The Fair will be a celebratory event following the Beloved Community Food Drive, which will take place for 6 weeks in April and May.  Churches in Durham are gathering food donations that will be given to the UMD Food Pantry.  The goal is to raise 12,000 pounds of food to help Durham's neighbors in need get through the summer months when kids are out of school.

Whether you Come To Give Help or Come To Get Help, We all Come Together as Durham's Beloved Community.

For more information, please email or call (919) 682-0538 ext. 163, or email Aaron Harrison, aaron.m.harrison@gmail.com.

Hope to see you all there!
