Buy Holiday Honor Cards to benefit neighbors through UMD
Honor cards now on sale to benefit Urban Ministries of Durham
Rather than send a plain greeting card to friends and family -- or to business clients, suppliers and corporate friends, send a Holiday Honor Card, which mentions that you've made a donation in the person's name to Urban Ministries of Durham. The card demonstrates your commitment to the Durham community and your thoughtfulness toward the recipient. We ask for a minimum donation of $5.00 per card; anything more is gratefully accepted.
Please email Christine Powers and let her know whether you would like a 5-pack ($25), 10-pack ($50), 20-pack ($100), or a custom quantity. Or whether you're able to sell packages of the card at your workplace, business, or congregation. With your help, we hope to sell out and raise $10,000 to help our neighbors in ned.
The Honor Card program was started 25 years ago by a then-unknown, but now nationally recognized North Carolina artist, William Mangum. Each year he creates a unique holiday greeting card; always with a powerful message reminding us of our responsibility to care for those less fortunate during this season. Mr. Mangum donates his paintings, and Wells Fargo Bank underwrites the production cost of the cards.
"Today I’m thankful for agencies like Urban Ministries of Durham that help our Veterans cope with the deep wounds that have scarred them and help bring them out of the depths of despair, giving them a hand up with encouragement and hope," Mr. Mangum says. "Success is in the comeback and for anyone who has stumbled in life there is an opportunity to grow from each challenge."
