Congratulations Hope & Believe Recovery Graduates

Urban Ministries of Durham's semi-annual Hope & Believe Substance Abuse Recovery Program Graduation Ceremony was held on May 18th in the Community Cafe.

Friends, family, staff, board members and other distinguished guests celebrated this important milestone as eighteen graduates received certificates marking the successful completion of the program. This was the largest graduating class since the program began in 2001.

In his keynote address, Bishop Leroy Mckenzie encouraged the graduates to go forward with strength and to set an example for others struggling with addiction. Dr.  Mckenzie is the senior pastor of Faith  Assembly Christian Center in Durham as well as a Chaplain at Polk Correctional Institute.

Following the ceremony, graduates and guests enjoyed refreshments during a reception in the graduates' honor.

About the Program

The Hope-Believe Recovery Program is an intensive multi-tiered substance abuse recovery program for adult homeless men and women who suffer from addiction illness.  The goal of the program is to provide recovery in a supportive and structured environment so that participants are empowered to manage their illness, maintain sobriety, improve health and wellness and move toward self-sufficiency.
